Stab formed on 10 May 42. 1.Kp. formed from renamed s.Pz.Kp.501 and s.Pz.Kp.502 formed from renamed s.Pz.Kp. 502. Began transfer to in Nov 42. Stab and 1./Kp arrived on 23 Nov 42. 2.Kp. was diverted to France as part of the occupying force in Vichy France. The last panzers of 2.Kp. arrived in Tunisia on 24 Jan 43. Abt. was incorporated into Pz.Rgt.7 as III.Abt. on 26 Feb 43. Stab, 1. and 2.Kp. surrendered in Tunisia in May 43. 3.Kp. was formed on 6 Mar 43. 3.Kp. renamed 10./Pz.Rgt.GD on 1 Jul 43. S.Pz.Abt.501 was reformed on 9 Sep 43 with three Kp using remnants from original Abt. Served on the Eastern Front from Dec 43 to Jul 44. Decimated during the Russian Summer offensive, the remnants were ordered to reform and refit at the troop training area Ohrdruf on 3 Jul 44. It was issued 45 Tiger IIs between 7 July and 7 August, s.Pz.Abt.501 was ordered to join H.Gr.Nordukraine on 6 Aug 44. Attached to 16.Pz.Div on 12 Aug 44. Ordered to rename to s.Pz.Abt.424 on 27 Nov 44. Assigned to 24 Pz Corps. on 1 Dec 44. Renamed s.Pz.424 on 19 Dec 44.
